Research - Instagram

I try to stay as active as I can on Instagram and follow many different pages that are making images and art that are in the same field that I am trying to pursue. The killing tree clothing and midnight mill are two very good examples for this. They both specialise in the use of screen printing onto a range of products such as clothing skateboards and phoneeases, after seeing these studios, this make me really want to approach my practice in this way, and this project will be influenced by this way of converting my illustrations onto a product context.

I really like the style of this print studio. They primarily work in black and white but they make very intricate and symmetrical designs and illustrations that work on a range of different sellable products.

Phonecases, shirts and skateboards are a big part of their product basis aswel as framed prints so these are a very ideal company for me to take inspiration from in order to fuel this project and my own practice.

I really like some of the designs from the killing tree and they way they can base a lot of the structures around geometrical shapes and lines. I would like to one day bring this element into my practice.

Midnight mill are another great source of inspiration for me within this project because they specialise in screen printing and also the use of colour blending and marbling which is the exact same process in which I have been working with. These have also shown me that it is possible to screen print straight onto a skateboard so I will definitely be trying this in the future.

Midnight mill also work in the realm of psychedelia with the use of colour and also the content, there is always reference to mushrooms throughout the designs so again this is another studio which will enable to me tome this project more well informed.
Colour bending is a big part of there aesthetic, especially on clothing so this makes me want to have the same approach within this project.
